Can you tell me about Vitamin C in plants? If ascorbic acid is water soluble where is it 'stored' in plant cells? Or is it continually synthesised as part of general cellular metabolism? Given the size of the molecule how come it apparently leaches out of intact plant cell masses with relative ease? I want to investigate the rate of growth of mustard seed when exposed to different concentrations of salt solution. So far I have carried out trials to find out what concentrations to use. I have tried 0.2g salt in 100ml of water and 0.4g salt in 100ml of water but the seeds were all growing at the same rate.
